Merkley, Wyden Announce Over $3.3 Million in Airport Infrastructure Investments in Grant County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oregon’s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced that over $3.3 million will be distributed to Grant County to finance construction and safety improvements at the Grant County Regional/Ogilvie Field Airport.

“As we continue to grapple with the coronavirus crisis, it’s critical that communities throughout Oregon have every resource available to build a strong economic foundation for the future,” said Merkley. “That includes making sure our infrastructure is safe and state-of-the-art. This grant funding will help the Grant County Regional/Ogilvie Field Airport meet important safety standards, and help ensure that the airport can support the community’s needs for years to come.”

“The blueprint for a strong economy throughout rural Oregon requires a solid foundation based on top-notch infrastructure,” Wyden said. “I am gratified that Grant County has earned these federal resources for the runway and operations at the airport, a key economic building block for the entire region and a vital link for both public safety and health care.”

“The Grant County Regional Airport is extremely thankful for the supplemental funding to greatly improve the runway safety at our airport.  This project will build on future airport improvements for all users, so we are excited about what our future looks like,” said Haley Walker, Airport Manager of Grant County Regional Airport.

The funding, which totals $3,353,232, is being distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and will help the airport enhance the safety of its runway and operations.
