Southern Oregon has a become a destination for visitors from around the world due to its mild climate, beautiful scenery, and lively artistic community. It’s also a destination for innovative green entrepreneurs who are harnessing sun, wind, and geothermal energy while creating new jobs and opportunities.

Notably, Klamath Falls is quickly becoming a leader in geothermal energy production in the country. In fact, the Oregon Institute of Technology is constructing a geothermal power plant on campus. Once completed, OIT will be the only college campus in the world with its energy supplied solely by geothermal energy.

Meanwhile, Southern Oregon’s largest community, Medford, is home to two of the largest mail order companies in the country - Harry and David’s and Musician’s Friend - as well as Fortune 1000 company Lithia Motors.

Southern Oregon has a bustling arts scene and offers many amazing outdoor activities. If you’re a theatre fan, Ashland, home of the Oregon Shakespeare festival, is a must-see. Nearby Jacksonville makes the most of its heritage through a preservation of its historic downtown, which is filled with galleries, restaurants and glimpses into its Old West past.

Visitors should also make the trip to visit Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the country with the clearest water of any lake in the world. Fishing and rafting enthusiasts will find what they’re looking for along the Rogue and Umpqua rivers and Mountain Lakes Wilderness Area.
