Durante el verano de 2013, la empresa Pacific Pipeline Connector (PPC) realiz\u00f3 una serie de estudios y evaluaciones de impacto ambiental en la propiedad de Steve Prien en Malin, Oreg\u00f3n. La empresa estaba interesada en comprar el terreno para un gasoducto de gas natural que vaya de Malin a Coos Bay para las instalaciones de exportaci\u00f3n de Jordan Cove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el oto\u00f1o, pensando que su casa y su propiedad estaban en dep\u00f3sito en garant\u00eda porque PPC hab\u00eda hecho compromisos verbales, Steve lo consider\u00f3 un trato cerrado, por lo que \u00e9l y su esposa se mudaron a una unidad de alquiler. Meses despu\u00e9s, no hab\u00eda sabido nada de PPC. Al perder dinero tanto en el alquiler como en las facturas de calefacci\u00f3n de una casa en la que no viv\u00eda, Steve se puso en contacto con la oficina de Jeff Merkley para obtener ayuda y obtener respuestas y dinero de PPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El personal de Jeff habl\u00f3 con la gente de PPC y, finalmente, convenci\u00f3 a James Goudreau de PPC para que llamara a Steve y hablaran del asunto. James prometi\u00f3 emitir un cheque para cubrir los gastos de mudanza de Steve. Tambi\u00e9n se ofreci\u00f3 a revisar la venta\/opci\u00f3n de la propiedad (lo que result\u00f3 en un contrato de opci\u00f3n de venta e ingresos para los Prien hasta que se pueda finalizar la venta) y actualizar a Steve semanalmente sobre el progreso de los permisos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
