Merkley ha pasado a\u00f1os abogando por recursos, soluciones e inversiones federales para combatir temporadas de incendios forestales cada vez m\u00e1s extremas y eventos de humo catastr\u00f3ficos que cubren el oeste. En A\u00f1o fiscal 2022<\/a>Como presidente del Comit\u00e9 de Apropiaciones para el Medio Ambiente Interior, Merkley cre\u00f3 este nuevo programa que financi\u00f3 la mitigaci\u00f3n del humo de los incendios forestales con $4 millones.
