{"id":1816,"date":"2022-12-22T11:40:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T16:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/homeless-veterans-in-willamette-valley-to-receive-federal-housing-vouchers\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T11:04:37","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T15:04:37","slug":"homeless-veterans-in-willamette-valley-to-receive-federal-housing-vouchers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/homeless-veterans-in-willamette-valley-to-receive-federal-housing-vouchers\/","title":{"rendered":"Veteranos sin hogar en Willamette Valley recibir\u00e1n vales federales de vivienda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley announced on Thursday<br \/>\nthat homeless veterans in the city of Salem as well as in Linn, Benton and Lane<br \/>\ncounties will receive a total of almost $700,000 in federal vouchers to help<br \/>\nthem secure affordable housing, according to a joint press release from the<br \/>\nsenators&#8217; offices.<\/p>\n<p>The vouchers will also ensure that homeless veterans will<br \/>\nalso have access to support service from the Department of Veterans Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Veterans who served our country fully deserve our<br \/>\nsupport when they return home to Oregon to live and work,&#8221; Wyden said.<br \/>\n&#8220;Every veteran has earned the right to expect that support to include<br \/>\nhousing, and I&#8217;ll keep battling for veterans across Oregon and our country to<br \/>\nhave a roof over their heads and a floor under their feet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are all in debt to our veterans for their service,<br \/>\nyet too many veterans struggle to find affordable housing in Oregon,&#8221; said<br \/>\nSenator Merkley. &#8220;I am happy these housing vouchers will be available to<br \/>\nhomeless veterans, and I will keep working to ensure our service members have<br \/>\nthe resources and support needed when they come home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban<br \/>\nDevelopment&#8217;s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program will be<br \/>\ndistributed as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Autoridad de Vivienda y Servicios Comunitarios del Condado de Lane:<br \/>\n$366,216<\/li>\n<li>Housing Authority of Salem: $183,924<\/li>\n<li>Linn-Benton Housing Authority: $142,923<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;LBHA is extremely honored to have the opportunity to<br \/>\nserve the veterans in our communities of Linn County and Benton County,&#8221; said<br \/>\nDonna Holt, Executive Director, Linn-Benton Housing Authority. &#8220;This grant<br \/>\nwill provide homeless veterans with affordable housing options as well as<br \/>\nsupportive services at a time when housing need is at a record high.
