A big boost for Oregon\u2019s semiconductor manufacturing industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A $72 million-dollar federal grant was just awarded to Microchip Technology in Gresham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The money will pay for expansion and will allow the company to double its capacity to manufacture the chips that power cars, defense technology, and other crucial products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials say it will also create about 600 new jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley say this grant is not only a huge win for the city of Gresham, it will also help support our state’s leadership in semiconductor manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOregon is in the lead now for the country for reshoring and showing that we can use the investment tax credits, hundreds of new jobs to showcase what Oregon’s doing,” says Senator Wyden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
