The project will allow the novel technology of floating solar panels on a canal to be evaluated, designed, and built to study the water efficiency gains and amount of clean energy produced for future larger scale implementation and as a pilot for the federal Bureau of Reclamation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe have to be creative in our fight against the current climate crisis,\u201d\u00a0<strong>dijo Wyden.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m happy to see Oregon chosen to lead the way in addressing two of the biggest issues surrounding efficient renewable energy today: what should be built and where to build it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFunding renewable energy resources is a win all\u00a0around?because it addresses climate chaos, saves\u00a0Oregonians\u00a0money, and creates\u00a0good-paying jobs in\u00a0our rural communities,\u201d\u00a0<strong>dijo Merkley.\u00a0<\/strong> \u201cThis federal investment for the North Unit Irrigation District&#8217;s floating solar project, which\u00a0blends water efficiency and renewable power sources, further proves Oregon is driving creative solutions to build the sustainable infrastructure needed for a clean energy future.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis funding for Floating Photovoltaics is great news for NUID and will demonstrate this important technology for others across the west.
