{"id":19056,"date":"2024-04-09T13:29:23","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T17:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/?p=19056"},"modified":"2024-04-09T13:30:42","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T17:30:42","slug":"wyden-merkley-five-oregon-airports-secure-total-federal-aid-of-1-45-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/wyden-merkley-five-oregon-airports-secure-total-federal-aid-of-1-45-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Wyden, Merkley: Five Oregon Airports Secure Total Federal Aid of $1.45 Million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Lake County,\u00a0Scappoose, Bend Municipal, Albany Municipal and Columbia Gorge Regional\/The\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>Dalles<\/strong> <\/em><strong><em>Municipal airports earn federal grants<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Washington DC<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley today announced that airports in Lake, Columbia, Deschutes, Linn and Wasco counties have secured a total of more than $1.4 million in federal grants for construction, infrastructure rehabilitation and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cOregonians count on local airports in their communities for jobs, economic vitality, public safety and much more that strengthen quality of life,\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong>wyden dijo<strong>. \u201cI\u2019m glad these Oregon communities have earned these federal airport investments, and I\u2019ll keep battling for similar resources throughout our state.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>&#8220;Oregon&#8217;s regional airports serve as vital hubs for our communities, supporting local businesses, connecting travelers to world-class recreational opportunities, and providing essential lifelines during natural disasters,&#8221; <\/strong>dijo Merkley.<strong> &#8220;These federal investments will modernize infrastructure at airports across Oregon \u2013 in urban, suburban, and rural communities \u2013 ensuring safety and fostering economic success in our state.&#8221;<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants from the federal Department of Transportation will be distributed as follows to these Oregon airports:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lake County,<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>$448,000 to update an existing master plan for the airport.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scappoose, $358,234 for construction on taxi lanes and more.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bend Municipal $315,000 for work on taxi lanes.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Albany Municipal, $200,000 for rehabilitation work on hangars.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Columbia Gorge Regional\/The&nbsp;<\/strong>Dalles<strong>&nbsp;Municipal $138,667 on construction of a fuel apron.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cThis federal funding for The Columbia Gorge Regional Airport is critical to spur economic growth and allow for enhancements to infrastructure that expand our wildfire response and disaster recovery capacity,\u201d <\/strong>said Jeff Renard, airport manager for the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport. <strong>\u201cWe would like to thank Senators Wyden and Merkley, and our partners at the FAA for their tireless efforts to make this project successful.
