That\u2019s why these funds benefiting coastal resilience and recovery for the Coquille River and Collins Creek Confluence and Ocean Shoreline are so critical.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The federal funding is being distributed through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration . The restoration and conservation of ecologically significant ecosystems, such as wetlands and natural shorelines, will help reduce the impacts of coastal hazards\u2014including flooding and climate change\u2014to property and infrastructure while also providing economic benefits to Oregon\u2019s coastal communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants will be distributed as follows to these Oregon projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Departamento de Pesca y Vida Silvestre de Oreg\u00f3n<\/strong>, $2,123,667 for conservation of Tidal Wetlands in the Coquille River&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development \u2013 Coastal Management Program, <\/strong>$4,851,805 for conservation of Collins Creek Confluence and Ocean Shoreline&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;On behalf of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, I am profoundly grateful for the announcement of this grant, which marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to preserve our ancestral lands and cultural heritage. With this support, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians will acquire and safeguard a 42-acre beachfront property that holds immense ecological, cultural, and historical significance. We recognize the urgent need to protect this pristine coastline, not only for the benefit of our tribe but also for the broader community and future generations. By acquiring and managing this property in perpetuity, we honor its sacredness, foster biodiversity, and promote resilience in the face of climate change. This grant not only empowers us to fulfill our stewardship responsibilities but also strengthens our partnership with the state of Oregon in achieving coastal resilience and conservation goals. On behalf of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, I extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have supported this endeavor,\u201d <\/strong>said Delores Pigsley, Tribal Chairman of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wyden has been a champion for conservation and ecosystem restoration projects in Oregon and across the nation.
