\nRon Wyden announced an $8,265,004 million federal grant to schools in Oregon to
\nhelp provide students with safe and supportive learning environments and
\nopportunities to help foster their success.  <\/p>\n

\n

\u201cParents and students deserve the peace of mind that while
\nat school students are safe and being cared for, while also gaining the
\nimportant skills and knowledge that will support them throughout their
\nschooling and adult lives,\u201d dijo el senador Merkley.<\/b> \u201cThis funding from the
\nBipartisan Safer Communities Act will go a long way in promoting the wellbeing
\nof Oregon\u2019s students and providing them with the crucial supports needed for
\ntheir long-term success.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOregon students and their families must be able to know
\nschools are safe places where children can learn free of violence, bullying and
\nhate,\u201d dijo Wyden.<\/b> \u201cThis federal investment from the Bipartisan Safer
\nCommunities Act will help provide opportunities for students as well as the
\nknowledge for their families that the classroom is a place where education
\ncomes first.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This funding comes from the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act
\n(BSCA) which provided $1 billion for state education agencies (SEAs) to make
\ngrants to provide students with safer and healthier learning environments. This
\naward is intended to support school and community partnerships that pursue
\nvarious solutions to more effectively prevent and respond to acts of bullying,
\nviolence, and hate that impacts school communities at both the individual and
\nsystemic levels.<\/p>\n
