In 2020<br \/>\nnon-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native, non-Hispanic Black, male and<br \/>\npeople experiencing houselessness were among the highest risk for unintentional<br \/>\ndrug overdose death, according to the National Center for Health?Statistics,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve heard<br \/>\nheart-wrenching stories from Oregonians who have lost loved ones after a<br \/>\nprescription for an injury or treatment turned into an addiction,&#8221;?Merkley<br \/>\nsaid. ?&#8221;The impact of this crisis across communities is immeasurable, but<br \/>\nthese funds will have a real impact on our continued fight to beat this<br \/>\nepidemic. Kennedy said. &#8220;With this<br \/>\nfunding from Health and Human Services we will be able to provide critical<br \/>\nservices through our clinic, Great Circle Recovery, and support patients on their<br \/>\npath through recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our tribe is<br \/>\nso thankful for the funds we will receive,&#8221; the Confederated Tribes of<br \/>\nSiletz Indians Chair Delores Piglsey said. &#8220;The opioid crisis has affected<br \/>\nour community. The funds will be used for wellness programs, mental health<br \/>\ntreatment, and every preventative measure that we have been unable to perform<br \/>\nwithout the funding.
