\n\u2013 U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley this week announced that three
\norganizations and governments in the metro area will receive a combined more
\nthan $1.37 million from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to
\ncontinue to provide temporary housing, victim services and criminal
\nintervention after sexual violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cAddressing the
\natrocity of sexual violence in our communities couldn\u2019t be more urgent,\u201d Wyden
\nsaid. \u201cI am gratified to see local
\norganizations and Oregon counties get more resources to continue to provide
\nservices to victims of sexual violence. While more needs to be done at every
\nlevel to prevent such violence, I will not stop fighting so that victims can get
\nthe support and protection they deserve as they heal and seek accountability
\nfor their attackers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must do
\neverything in our power to protect people from sexual assault and abuse,\u201d Merkley
\nsaid.?\u201cThis funding to Portland
\nCommunity College, the Domestic Violence Resource Center in Beaverton, and
\nClackamas County will support the crucial work of these organizations to keep
\npeople safe, ensure resources are available to provide these vital services and
\nhold perpetrators accountable.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The OVW grants provide funding and resources for local
\norganizations and governments to respond to domestic violence, dating violence,
\nsexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking. These grant funds will be
\nallocated as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Clackamas
    \n County: $749,779 for collaborative, effective community responses to
    \n sexual violence to ensure victim safety and offender accountability.<\/li>\n
  2. P\u00f3rtland
    \n Community College (PCC): $300,000 for a comprehensive coordinated
    \n community approach that enhances victim safety, provides on-campus
    \n services for victims, and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable.<\/li>\n
  3. Domestic
    \n Violence Resource Center, Inc. (DVRC): $322,500 for transitional housing,
    \n short-term housing assistance, including counseling, childcare,
    \n transportation, and life skills, educational and\/or job training.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n<\/ol>\n<\/p>\n
