Two Douglas County fire districts are set to receive part of
\na combined $2.58 million federal grant.<\/p>\n
U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley announced Monday
\nthat Tenmile and Glide are among 10 Oregon fire districts to receive Assistance
\nto Firefighters Grants.<\/p>\n
“Oregon’s firefighters work tirelessly, risking their
\nlives to keep our homes, businesses, and communities safe – it is imperative
\nthat they receive the federal support needed to do this important work,”
\nMerkley said in a news release. “This funding will help ensure that the
\ndedicated firefighters across the state are well equipped and prepared to keep
\nprotecting the Oregonians they serve in every corner of our State.”<\/p>\n
The grants help firefighters and first responders obtain
\nessential resources to enhance their response capabilities and to protect the
\nhealth and safety of the public and emergency response personnel from fire and
\nother related hazards, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
“Local firefighters working hard to protect lives and
\nlivelihoods throughout Oregon deserve topnotch equipment to stay safe while
\nthey’re putting themselves at risk defending communities around the
\nstate,” Wyden said. “The importance of this federal investment in
\nOregon is especially timely given firefighters\u2019 heroic work this summer
\nbattling blazes that still threaten our state. I\u2019ll keep battling to make sure
\nfirefighters have the resources they need now and in the years ahead.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Tenmile Fire District is set to receive $36,341, while Glide
