WASHINGTON, D.C. – Cottage Grove will receive a $5
\nmillion grant funded by the American Rescue Plan to support revitalization of
\nits downtown historic commercial district, the U.S. Department of Commerce
\nannounced Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The grant will revitalize five blocks of Main Street in
\nCottage Grove by installing new landscaping, utilities improvements, and
\nupdated ADA compliance features.<\/p>\n
$1.3 million in local funds will also be used for the
\nproject and is expected to create 33 jobs, retain 27 jobs and generate $650,000
\nin private investment.<\/p>\n
“This federal investment will spark jobs for
\nOregonians, help longstanding small businesses in downtown Cottage Grove and
\ngenerate opportunities for new small businesses in the city’s historic
\ncommercial district,” said Senator Ron Wyden. “I’m gratified the
\nAmerican Rescue Plan I was proud to support is making a real difference on Main
\nStreet in Cottage Grove.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“So many communities across Oregon were greatly
\nimpacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in ways big and small, and we need to keep looking
\nfor creative paths forward to help them recover and grow, like this
\nrevitalization plan for Cottage Grove,” said Senator Jeff Merkley.

\nfunding going to the city\u2019s historic downtown will enhance its economy and
\ncreate dozens of good-paying jobs. I am excited to see how the investments will
