{"id":20225,"date":"2024-07-29T14:04:05","date_gmt":"2024-07-29T18:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/?p=20225"},"modified":"2024-08-07T14:07:09","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T18:07:09","slug":"roseburg-cottage-grove-myrtle-creek-airports-receive-federal-funds-for-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/roseburg-cottage-grove-myrtle-creek-airports-receive-federal-funds-for-improvements\/","title":{"rendered":"Roseburg, Cottage Grove, Myrtle Creek airports receive federal funds for improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kcby.com\/news\/local\/roseburg-cottage-grove-myrtle-creek-airports-receive-federal-funds-for-improvements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KCBY<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WASHINGTON DC \u2013 Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $17,364,442 to the state under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes more than $2 million for the Roseburg Regional Airport, $264K for the Cottage Grove State Airport, and $180K for the Myrtle Creek Municipal Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOregon\u2019s airports connect communities across our state to the rest of the world\u2014supporting local businesses, transporting goods, connecting travelers to world-class recreational opportunities, and providing essential lifelines during natural disasters,\u201d Merkley said. \u201cThis $17 million in federal funding will modernize infrastructure at airports across Oregon, growing our economy and ensuring safety for Oregonians and visitors alike as they fly throughout our state.\u201d<a href=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs evidenced by the ongoing wildfires throughout Oregon, airports statewide play a key role in emergency response along with their everyday reliability for medical supplies, passenger travel and moving small business products from point A to point B,\u201d Wyden said. \u201cI\u2019m gratified these airports have secured these federal funds that will enable them to achieve all those goals more safely and effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AIP grant program funds airport infrastructure projects, such as improvements to runways, taxiways, passenger boarding bridges, airport signage, airport lighting, and airport markings to strengthen our nation\u2019s aviation infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These awards will go toward pavement, runway, and taxiway improvements, as well as safety area construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest awards from the Federal Aviation Administration to Oregon airports can be found below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Portland International Airport: $7,766,449<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bend Municipal Airport: $3,750,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roseburg Regional Airport: $2,120,951<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roberts Field in Redmond: $1,291,810<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Siletz Bay State Airport: $1,169,434<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>McNary Field in Salem: $300,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants Pass Airport: $274,180<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cottage Grove State Airport: $264,118<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Myrtle Creek Municipal Airport: $180,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ken Jernstedt Airfield in Hood River: $140,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Of these 10 airports, Siletz Bay State and McNary Field received federal funding thanks to the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the senators said in their joint release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Oregon Department of Aviation is receiving $107,500 to update an existing state airport system plan.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KCBY WASHINGTON DC \u2013 Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced Monday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is awarding $17,364,442 to the state under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP).
