Created in 2000, this fund is a competitive grant program<br \/>\ndesigned to address declining Pacific salmon and steelhead populations by<br \/>\nsupporting conservation efforts in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and<br \/>\nAlaska. The program is essential to preventing the extinction of the 28 listed<br \/>\nsalmon and steelhead species on the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><b>Programa Sea Grant:<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">&nbsp;The program received a $14 million increase after Merkley led a<br \/>\nbipartisan resolution in support of the investment. Funded at $90 million, the<br \/>\nprogram, a priority for Oregon State University, uses targeted local<br \/>\ninvestments to create economic growth, sustainable fisheries, and resilient<br \/>\ncoastal communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Gesti\u00f3n y Servicios Oce\u00e1nicos y Costeros:<\/b>&nbsp;The bill provides a total of $308<br \/>\nmillion for Ocean and Coastal Management and Services within the National<br \/>\nOceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This funding will fund critical<br \/>\ncoastal services and programs such as: Coastal Zone Management Grants, National<br \/>\nOceans and Coastal Security Fund, the Coral Reef Program, the National<br \/>\nEstuarine Research Reserve System, and Sanctuaries and Marine Protected<br \/>\nAreas.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mariscos del Pac\u00edfico:&nbsp;<\/b>The bill includes $2.5 million in federal funding for cutting-edge<br \/>\nresearch to improve the productivity, sustainability, and resiliency of the<br \/>\nPacific shellfish agricultural system. This research is critical to efforts to<br \/>\nmitigate the impacts of climate chaos on the health and economies of Oregon\u2019s<br \/>\ncoastal communities.<\/p>\n<p><b>Programa de Asistencia T\u00e9cnica y Ambiental Mar\u00edtima:&nbsp;<\/b>The bill includes $10 million to<br \/>\npromote the research, demonstration, and development of emerging technologies,<br \/>\npractices, and processes that improve maritime industrial environmental<br \/>\nsustainability.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tratado del Salm\u00f3n del Pac\u00edfico:&nbsp;<\/b>The bill includes $43 million for the Pacific States, Tribal<br \/>\nCommunities, and NOAA to continue activities in support of the obligations set<br \/>\nforth in the renegotiated annex of the Pacific Salmon Treaty. The bill also<br \/>\nprovides $23 million for the operation and maintenance of Mitchell Act<br \/>\nhatcheries, which are meant to produce salmon and steelhead in the Columbia<br \/>\nRiver Basin for harvest and conservation purposes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Programa de Monitoreo de Importaciones de Productos del Mar (SIMP):<\/b>&nbsp;The bill provides a $4 million increase<br \/>\nfor the SIMP program.
