\ntoday announced that Klamath Community College will receive more than $194,000
\nfrom the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to enroll qualified
\nstudents in the college’s Commercial Driver’s License program.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard from hardworking truck drivers all over Oregon
\nhow serious the need is for more colleagues to drive and deliver goods all over
\nthe state,\u201d Wyden said. \u201cI\u2019m gratified to see these federal dollars go toward
\nthe Commercial Driver\u2019s License program which will play a crucial role in
\nreducing supply chain snarls and of course ensuring that students at Klamath
\nCommunity College have a path toward good-paying, career opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCommercial drivers are vital to supporting Oregon\u2019s economy
\nand to ensuring we are able to get the goods we need. We rely on these highly
\ntrained drivers to get food to our tables, supplies to our hospitals, and
\nclothes on our backs,\u201d Merkley said. \u201cI am happy to see this funding going to
\nKlamath Community College for recruitment and support for the college\u2019s Commercial
\nDriver\u2019s License program.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Klamath Community College will receive more than $194,000
\nfrom the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to recruit and enroll at
\nleast 40 qualified students and\/or members of underserved communities in the
\ncollege’s Commercial Driver’s License program.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThe funding provided will help Klamath Community College to
\ncontinue to address our country\u2019s pressing need for commercial drivers, while
\nensuring that those on the road are receiving the best possible training to do
\ntheir jobs reliably and safely,\u201d said KCC President Roberto Gutierrez. \u201cFunds
\nwill cover tuition and fees for KCC student veterans and their families to
\npursue a CDL license for essential careers with a livable wage in a growing
\nfield. Trucking is the lifeblood of the nation\u2019s economy, and it is KCC\u2019s goal
\nto provide as many proficient drivers as possible to respond to the demand for
