{"id":20717,"date":"2024-10-24T10:35:17","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T14:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/?p=20717"},"modified":"2024-10-24T10:36:53","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T14:36:53","slug":"oregon-delegation-seeks-federal-help-for-states-record-fire-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/oregon-delegation-seeks-federal-help-for-states-record-fire-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Oregon Delegation Seeks Federal Help for State\u2019s Record Fire Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Citing severe damages to Central and Eastern Oregon, state lawmakers\u2019 letter asks President Biden: \u201cto swiftly provide the federal resources for our communities to recover and rebuild.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Washington DC<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Oregon\u2019s entire congressional delegation today urged President Biden to grant Governor Kotek\u2019s request that Oregon receive a major disaster declaration in response to record-setting wildfires that burned about three times the average acreage this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe 2024 wildfire season has been one of the most devastating and costly fire seasons on record,\u201d<strong>&nbsp;U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley as well as U.S. Reps.
