UU. y una voz destacada en el apoyo a la democracia y los derechos humanos en Birmania, emiti\u00f3 la siguiente declaraci\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de que el ej\u00e9rcito birmano ejecutara a cuatro l\u00edderes prodemocr\u00e1ticos:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLa ejecuci\u00f3n de los reverenciados l\u00edderes prodemocr\u00e1ticos Ko Jimmy, Phyo Zayar Thaw, Hla Myo Aung y Aung Thura Zaw tras juicios falsos es espantosa y confirma tr\u00e1gicamente que la brutalidad de la junta no tiene l\u00edmites. Desde su golpe ilegal del 1 de febrero de 2021, el ej\u00e9rcito birmano ha matado a m\u00e1s de 2000 de sus propios civiles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa comunidad internacional debe ejercer toda la presi\u00f3n necesaria para poner fin a la horrible violencia de la junta contra su propio pueblo y restaurar la democracia en Birmania. A la luz de estos asesinatos, el Senado debe aprobar de inmediato la Ley de BIRMANIA para imponer m\u00e1s sanciones a la junta. Mientras tanto, la Administraci\u00f3n Biden deber\u00eda usar las herramientas que tiene ahora para imponer sanciones adicionales, especialmente a los l\u00edderes militares que a\u00fan no han sido responsabilizados, los que son responsables de la muerte de estos activistas por la democracia y el Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, que proporciona ingresos a la junta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTambi\u00e9n hay pasos diplom\u00e1ticos a tomar para aislar completamente al r\u00e9gimen birmano.
