{"id":20801,"date":"2024-10-01T16:36:13","date_gmt":"2024-10-01T20:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/?p=20801"},"modified":"2024-11-12T16:38:13","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T21:38:13","slug":"dulcich-secures-usd-2-million-usda-contract-for-pacific-rockfish-fillets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/dulcich-secures-usd-2-million-usda-contract-for-pacific-rockfish-fillets\/","title":{"rendered":"Dulcich secures USD 2 million USDA contract for Pacific rockfish fillets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodsource.com\/news\/supply-trade\/dulcich-secures-usd-2-million-usda-contract-for-pacific-rockfish-fillets\">Seafood Source<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clackamas, Oregon, U.S.A.-based Dulcich \u2013 the parent company of Pacific Seafood Group \u2013 has won another U.S. Department of Agriculture contract for seafood, this time for Pacific rockfish fillets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dulcich&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/portal.wbscm.usda.gov\/irj\/go\/km\/docs\/wbscmprocurement\/AMS-Livestock\/2024\/09-SEP\/Bid%20Invitations%20(Solicitations)\/12-3J14-24-B-0611-PCA\/12-3J14-24-B-0611-PCA.pdf\">won a contract to supply 11,700 cases<\/a>&nbsp;of Pacific rockfish fillets for around USD 2 million (EUR 1.8 million). The contract runs from November 2024 through March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In early September, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodsource.com\/news\/supply-trade\/usda-awards-more-than-usd-17-million-for-pacific-northwest-seafood\">USDA awarded more than USD 17 million (EUR 15 million)<\/a>&nbsp;in Pacific rockfish and whiting contracts, following requests from politicians and seafood organizations to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At that time, Dulcich was awarded a contract to supply USD 9.3 million (EUR 8.3 million) worth of Pacific whiting. Westport, Washington, U.S.A.-based Ocean Gold Seafoods was awarded a contract to supply both whiting and rockfish in a contract worth nearly USD 5.1 million (EUR 4.6 million), and Bornstein Seafoods was awarded a contract to supply USD 2.9 million (EUR 2.6 million) worth of rockfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the agency said in the award notice it could not award 9,000 cases of Pacific rockfish \u201cdue to price consideration.\u201d&nbsp;It also could not award 17,100 cases of rockfish fillets and 3,600 cases of whiting fillets due to vendor capacity \u2013 an issue which Dulcich has apparently partially resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The large U.S. West Coast groundfish purchase was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodsource.com\/news\/supply-trade\/usda-planning-usd-22-million-west-coast-seafood-buy\">announced in mid-July<\/a>&nbsp;by U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Oregon) and U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), along with U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-Oregon), U.S. Rep. Val Hoyle (D-Oregon), and U.S. Rep. Andrea Salinas (D-Oregon).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe greatly appreciate the efforts that the USDA has made to support our [seafood] industry in recent years,\u201d the Oregon legislators wrote in mid-July. \u201cThese continue to be extremely challenging times, and we cannot overstate the significance of the USDA\u2019s actions to expand procurement programs to include greater quantities of domestically produced seafood.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodsource.com\/author\/chris-chase\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seafood Source Clackamas, Oregon, U.S.A.-based Dulcich \u2013 the parent company of Pacific Seafood Group \u2013 has won another U.S. Department of Agriculture contract for seafood, this time for Pacific rockfish fillets.
