The resolution calls for leadership to put the United States on a trajectory to avoid the worst impacts of climate chaos.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEvery child in America deserves a healthy and prosperous future, but the Trump Administration is selling out our health, safety, planet, and future to make billionaire corporate polluters even richer,\u201d <strong>dijo Merkley.<\/strong> \u201cWe stand with these courageous young activists in Oregon and across the country who are taking matters into their own hands with immediate and decisive steps to fight for themselves and future generations, address climate chaos, and tackle environmental injustice.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Merkley joined his colleagues and representatives from supporting organizations for a press conference on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol to spotlight the youth fighting for climate action. This included supporters of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ourchildrenstrust.org\/lighthiser-v-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Lighthiser v. Trump<\/em><\/a>, a youth-led lawsuit that was filed by 22 young plaintiffs from five states, challenging the Trump Administration\u2019s Executive Orders that &#8220;unleash fossil fuels\u201d and endanger the lives of children and future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution is cosponsored by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Edward J.
