Washington, D.C. \u2013 Oregon\u2019s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and Montana\u2019s U.S. Senator Steve Daines teamed up in a bipartisan effort to mark the 30el<\/sup> anniversary of the normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cVietnam is a critical partner to the United States, and only together will we be able to tackle the multi-faceted challenges of this century,\u201d dijo Merkley.<\/strong> \u201cOur bipartisan resolution reaffirms Congress\u2019 commitment to sustaining a productive bilateral relationship with Vietnam, strengthening not only the relationship between our governments but also between the peoples of our countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year, as the U.S. and Vietnam celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations, we celebrate the strides our two nations have taken as allies and the bright future of our partnership. I visited Vietnam in March, and have a deep appreciation for our shared interests and goals. I\u2019m proud to introduce this resolution with Senator Merkley to recognize the importance of our strategic relationship in defense, trade and diplomacy,\u201d said Daines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
