After promising transparency for the American people, accountability for individuals involved with Epstein, and justice for all victims harmed, Senate Majority Leader Thune and Senate Republicans all bent the knee to Donald Trump and opposed my bill to release the Epstein Files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJeffrey Epstein\u2019s victims and the American people deserve the truth about Epstein and his horrific crimes. As long as Congressional Republicans continue to side with the rich and the powerful over justice, I\u2019ll fight to pass my bill to shine a light on the truth surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and those connected to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Tonight\u2019s vote was a result of Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) filing an amendment to the <em>Ley de Autorizaci\u00f3n de la Defensa Nacional<\/em> identical to Merkley\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/merkley-lujan-demand-public-release-of-epstein-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Epstein Files Transparency Act<\/em><\/a><em>.&nbsp;<\/em>Merkley introduced the bill with New Mexico\u2019s U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n and 24 other Senators\u2014including Leader Schumer\u2014to&nbsp;require the U.S. Department of Justice to release all the Epstein Files within 30 days of passage.
