{"id":23175,"date":"2025-10-14T14:23:58","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T18:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/?p=23175"},"modified":"2025-10-14T14:24:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T18:24:00","slug":"wyden-merkley-colleagues-demand-trump-administration-restore-8-billion-in-funding-for-energy-projects-it-illegally-canceled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/wyden-merkley-colleagues-demand-trump-administration-restore-8-billion-in-funding-for-energy-projects-it-illegally-canceled\/","title":{"rendered":"Wyden, Merkley, Colleagues Demand Trump Administration Restore $8 Billion in Funding for Energy Projects It Illegally Canceled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Washington DC<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley said today they have joined Senate colleagues to demand the Trump administration restore funding for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eenews.net\/articles\/doe-funding-cuts-hit-223-blue-state-energy-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">223 energy projects in Democratic-led states<\/a> that were unlawfully canceled even though Congress had approved and appropriated funding for them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe write in strong opposition to the Trump administration unlawfully cancelling $8 billion in federal investments in 223 energy projects,\u201d <strong>the senators wrote to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought.<\/strong> \u201cFor the 21 states with impacted projects, your cancellations will mean thousands of lost jobs for Americans, many of whom had every reason to rely on the stability of their jobs before these cancellations and all of whom will face uncertain job markets in our increasingly slowing economy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c218 out of 223 projects that were terminated are in states with Democratic leadership.
