Merkley leads the\u00a0<em>REUSE Act<\/em> with West Virginia\u2019s U.S. Senator and EPW Committee Chairman Shelley Moore Capito. The <em>REUSE Act<\/em> is a significant step forward in reducing waste and conserving resources across America by ensuring that reuse and refill systems are integral pillars of our circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFor years, we were taught the three Rs\u2014reduce, reuse, and recycle; but too often the reality with plastics is the three Bs\u2014buried, burned, and borne out to sea,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>dijo Merkley.<\/strong> \u201cAs the&nbsp;<em>REUSE Act<\/em>&nbsp;comes one step closer to becoming law, we are on the way to improving reuse systems. This legislation also instructs the EPA to provide information on the types of support at the local, state, and federal levels that could enhance reuse and refill systems.
