Washington, D.C. \u2013 Oregon\u2019s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden announced that $4,250,606 in federal funding is coming to Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center to support critical health services for uninsured and underinsured Oregonians in Washington and Yamhill counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Access to quality health care should never depend on your ZIP code or ability to pay,\u201d dijo Merkley.<\/strong> \u201cThese federal dollars will help Virginia Garcia continue delivering essential care to Oregon families\u2014especially those who would otherwise struggle to access the services they need and deserve to stay healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virginia Garcia is one of the 34 Federally Qualified Health Centers in Oregon and provides primary care, behavioral health, dental, and pharmacy services to thousands of patients annually\u2014with a focus on reaching underserved and rural communities. The federal funds to Virginia Garcia come from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, Senators Merkley and Wyden, along with Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01),\u00a0secured<\/a>\u00a0$2.124 million for Virginia Garcia to expand its clinic in Newberg through the annual appropriations process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
