Se llama supresi\u00f3n de votantes y amenaza el derecho constitucional de los ciudadanos estadounidenses a dar forma a las decisiones que nos afectan a todos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsta noche, una vez m\u00e1s, los senadores republicanos hicieron maniobras obstruccionistas para garantizar la continuaci\u00f3n de la corrupci\u00f3n en nuestros sistemas electorales. Cientos de proyectos de ley de supresi\u00f3n de votantes, cada uno de los cuales se basa en la conspiraci\u00f3n de la &#039;Gran Mentira&#039;, se est\u00e1n acumulando en las legislaturas estatales con el objetivo de evitar que voten grupos espec\u00edficos de ciudadanos estadounidenses. Y los funcionarios estatales republicanos ya est\u00e1n planeando c\u00f3mo manipular la nueva ronda de distritos legislativos para tomar el poder negando la representaci\u00f3n igualitaria de los estadounidenses. Esta legislaci\u00f3n terminar\u00eda con todas estas t\u00e1cticas para que la gente, sin importar su afiliaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, geograf\u00eda, color de piel o ingresos, pueda dar forma a nuestro gobierno. Ese es un valor estadounidense, no partidista.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHace cincuenta y seis a\u00f1os, casi hasta el d\u00eda, Lyndon Johnson firm\u00f3 el <i>Ley de derechos electorales de 1965<\/i>. Una vez dijo: &#039;Est\u00e1 mal \u2014muy mal\u2014 negar a cualquiera de sus compatriotas estadounidenses el derecho a votar en este pa\u00eds. No se trata de derechos de los Estados ni de derechos nacionales. S\u00f3lo queda la lucha por los derechos humanos.&#039; Est\u00e1 claro que esta lucha es m\u00e1s feroz ahora que nunca, y es una lucha que debemos ganar. Tomar el poder negando a sus rivales pol\u00edticos la misma oportunidad de votar y que se cuente su voto es una amenaza diab\u00f3lica para nuestra visi\u00f3n constitucional y la libertad de los estadounidenses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLamentablemente, se esperaba este obstruccionismo y deja en claro que debemos buscar otras opciones para aprobar este proyecto de ley. Mis colegas y yo seguimos decididos a lograr que los pilares centrales de la <i>Ley para el Pueblo<\/i>\u2014planes para garantizar que todos los estadounidenses elegibles tengan las mismas oportunidades de emitir su voto y que se cuente, para detener la manipulaci\u00f3n partidista y arrojar luz sobre el dinero oscuro que corrompe nuestra pol\u00edtica\u2014 cruzar la l\u00ednea de meta y convertirse en ley.
