Ese poder fue otorgado espec\u00edficamente a los miembros del Congreso, porque la decisi\u00f3n de declarar la guerra o enviar a nuestros hijos e hijas al peligro es demasiado importante para recaer sobre los hombros de una sola persona.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDurante las \u00faltimas seis d\u00e9cadas, interpretaciones demasiado amplias de las autoridades han permitido a los presidentes desviarse de ese principio y de la visi\u00f3n de nuestros fundadores, y arrastrar a nuestra naci\u00f3n a guerras interminables y en constante expansi\u00f3n. La derogaci\u00f3n de las AUMF de 1991 y 2002 es un primer paso necesario para devolver los poderes de guerra a las c\u00e1maras del Congreso y ayuda a sentar las bases para esfuerzos futuros m\u00e1s integrales, como la derogaci\u00f3n y reforma de la AUMF de 2001 para limitar y especificar el uso de fuerza militar.
