Washington DC<\/i> \u2013 Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley pidieron hoy al l\u00edder de la mayor\u00eda del Senado, Mitch McConnell, que retome de inmediato la propuesta bipartidista aprobada por la C\u00e1mara. Ley de Promesas y Sue\u00f1os Americanos<\/i>, que establecer\u00e1 un camino hacia la ciudadan\u00eda para Dreamers e inmigrantes con Estatus de Protecci\u00f3n Temporal (TPS) o Salida Forzada Diferida (DED). <\/p>\n

\u201cNo es demasiado tarde para cambiar de rumbo. Como l\u00edder de la mayor\u00eda, puede programar inmediatamente una votaci\u00f3n en el Senado para la Ley de Promesas y Sue\u00f1os Americanos<\/i>,\u201d <\/b>escribieron los senadores en una carta firmada por todo el caucus dem\u00f3crata del Senado.  \u201cSer\u00eda una tragedia estadounidense deportar a los beneficiarios de DACA que est\u00e1n salvando vidas en medio de esta pandemia. En medio de la pandemia de COVID-19, m\u00e1s de 200,000 beneficiarios de DACA est\u00e1n trabajando en \u00e1reas ocupacionales que el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) de la Administraci\u00f3n Trump identifica como parte de la \u201cfuerza laboral esencial de infraestructura cr\u00edtica\u201d. Esto incluye aproximadamente 41,700 beneficiarios de DACA que trabajan en la industria del cuidado de la salud, incluidos m\u00e9dicos y m\u00e9dicos en formaci\u00f3n, enfermeras de cuidados intensivos, param\u00e9dicos, terapeutas respiratorios, asistentes de enfermer\u00eda y t\u00e9cnicos de salud. <\/p>\n

En su carta, los senadores se\u00f1alaron que con los republicanos en la mayor\u00eda, el Senado no ha abordado los desaf\u00edos de inmigraci\u00f3n de nuestra naci\u00f3n. En el Congreso 116, el Subcomit\u00e9 de Inmigraci\u00f3n y Seguridad Fronteriza ha realizado una sola audiencia; el Comit\u00e9 Judicial del Senado ha votado solo un proyecto de ley de inmigraci\u00f3n, el proyecto de ley contra el asilo de la Administraci\u00f3n Trump, y la mayor\u00eda republicana limit\u00f3 el debate a solo una hora y no permiti\u00f3 que se ofreciera una sola enmienda; y McConnell no ha llevado ni un solo proyecto de ley de inmigraci\u00f3n al pleno del Senado. <\/p>\n
