WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 El senador de Oreg\u00f3n, Jeff Merkley, present\u00f3 hoy una nueva legislaci\u00f3n para proporcionar los recursos necesarios a las instalaciones de tratamiento de aguas residuales (frecuentemente el mayor usuario de energ\u00eda en los municipios) para mejorar su eficiencia energ\u00e9tica y h\u00eddrica. Seg\u00fan el Departamento de Energ\u00eda de Estados Unidos, las instalaciones de tratamiento de aguas residuales estadounidenses gastan alrededor de $2 mil millones en costos de electricidad cada a\u00f1o. Estos costos a menudo representan entre el 25 y el 40 por ciento del presupuesto operativo anual de una planta y, a su vez, son una parte importante de los costos energ\u00e9ticos totales de cada municipio.<\/p>\n

El Ley de tratamiento y eficiencia de aguas residuales de 2019<\/i> permitir\u00eda a las casi 17.000 instalaciones municipales de aguas residuales (peque\u00f1as y grandes) en los EE. Las comunidades m\u00e1s grandes podr\u00edan solicitar millones de d\u00f3lares en garant\u00edas de pr\u00e9stamos administradas por el Departamento de Energ\u00eda.
