Wasco and Yamhill Counties, as well as the cities of Woodburn, Salem, Eugene, and Florence are recipients of the awards.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Public transportation upgrades are great for the health, inclusiveness, and economy of our communities,&#8221; <b>dijo Merkley.<\/b> &#8220;These grants will help six cities and counties reduce congestion and emissions from single-occupancy vehicles, while helping to make these communities more accessible for all. I&#8217;m looking forward to watching that progress unfold, and will continue to look for ways to support transit districts across our state.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Mass transit plays a huge role in helping Oregonians get around our communities for jobs, school and more,&rdquo;<b> dijo Wyden. <\/b>&ldquo;I am gratified that these cities and counties have earned these grants that allow them to continue significant investments in bus options that benefit quality of life throughout our state.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The grants will help communities finance a range of bus and bus facility capital projects, including the replacement, rehabilitation, purchasing, or leasing of buses, bus facilities, or related equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The specific award amounts are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Oregon Department of Transportation (Mid-Columbia Economic Development District), Wasco County: $150,126.<\/li>\n<li>Oregon Department of Transportation (City of Woodburn), Woodburn: $300,000.<\/li>\n<li>Oregon Department of Transportation (Yamhill County Transit), Yamhill County: $999,968.00.<\/li>\n<li>Salem Area Mass Transit District, Salem: $1,054,240.00.<\/li>\n<li>Oregon Department of Transportation, Eugene and Florence: $110,500.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">###<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. &ndash; Oregon&rsquo;s Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced over $2.6 million in grant funding for bus and bus facilities upgrades for communities across Oregon.
