{"id":4130,"date":"2019-06-06T09:16:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-06T13:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/medford-airport-receives-nearly-1-million-in-grants-for-improvements\/"},"modified":"2023-07-24T11:07:41","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T15:07:41","slug":"medford-airport-receives-nearly-1-million-in-grants-for-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merkley.senate.gov\/es\/medford-airport-receives-nearly-1-million-in-grants-for-improvements\/","title":{"rendered":"El aeropuerto de Medford recibe casi $1 millones en subvenciones para mejoras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEDFORD, Ore. &mdash; Southern Oregon&#8217;s primary airport will receive almost $1 million in grants from the federal government for a number of improvements, the Jackson County Airport Authority said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport (MFR) was awarded $937,500 through the Federal Aviation Administration&#8217;s Airport Improvement Program in order to update the airport&#8217;s &#8220;Master Plan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;AIP Grants fund planning, design, environmental and engineering projects, such as runways, taxiways, aprons, and terminal improvements,&#8221; the Airport Authority said. &#8220;The construction and equipment supported by this funding increases the airports&#8217; safety, capacity and related issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Airport officials thanked Senator Merkley, Senator Wyden and Representative Walden for their advocacy on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>However, the grant for MFR is not the largest one coming to Southern Oregon. The Crater Lake-Klamath Regional airport,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kdrv.com\/content\/news\/Klamath-Falls-in-Talks-to-Restore-Passenger-Flights-from-Airport-494175711.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which has been fighting for the return of passenger flights for several years<\/a>, received more than $6.7 million in grants in order to replace the airport&#8217;s wind cone, repair and upgrade taxiways, and repair taxiway lighting.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEDFORD, Ore. &mdash; Southern Oregon&#8217;s primary airport will receive almost $1 million in grants from the federal government for a number of improvements, the Jackson County Airport Authority said in a statement on Thursday.
