Nuestros l\u00edderes desafiaron a los estadounidenses a lograr algo, a ser los m\u00e1s innovadores y a llegar antes que otros pa\u00edses a la luna, y lo hicimos en menos de una d\u00e9cada. Y durante las \u00faltimas cinco d\u00e9cadas, hemos cosechado los beneficios de ser el l\u00edder tecnol\u00f3gico indiscutible del mundo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa votaci\u00f3n de hoy fue el equivalente a que Mitch McConnell y sus colegas respondieran al desaf\u00edo del Presidente Kennedy tratando de sumar puntos pol\u00edticos afirmando que Estados Unidos no puede llegar a la luna y cualquiera que piense que deber\u00edamos intentarlo es un tonto. Creo que es mucho m\u00e1s tonto apostar contra los estadounidenses y negarse a abordar, o incluso reconocer, la mayor crisis global que enfrentaremos en nuestras vidas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLos hechos sobre el terreno no mienten y los estadounidenses, especialmente en las zonas rurales, est\u00e1n viviendo los impactos todos los d\u00edas. Lo vemos en los crecientes megaincendios en el Oeste, huracanes m\u00e1s destructivos en el Este y horribles inundaciones en el Medio Oeste. El caos clim\u00e1tico ya est\u00e1 aqu\u00ed, s\u00f3lo empeorar\u00e1 y hay vidas y medios de subsistencia en juego.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEs hora de dejar atr\u00e1s la pol\u00edtica de &#039;te atrapa&#039; y pasar a un debate real sobre las acciones audaces que son necesarias para salvar a nuestras comunidades. Desafortunadamente, no podemos tener un debate pol\u00edtico de buena fe mientras una de las partes siga siendo una subsidiaria de propiedad total de la industria de los combustibles f\u00f3siles. Necesitamos un reconocimiento bipartidista de que esta crisis es real; que presenta una amenaza existencial para nuestra naci\u00f3n; y que la \u00fanica soluci\u00f3n seria es dar un paso audaz desde los combustibles f\u00f3siles contaminantes hacia la energ\u00eda limpia y renovable en los pr\u00f3ximos doce a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa buena noticia es la siguiente: podemos crear, y crearemos, millones de empleos bien remunerados impulsando la transici\u00f3n hacia energ\u00edas limpias y renovables. Y si bien mis colegas y yo continuaremos impulsando la pol\u00edtica federal para la transici\u00f3n a la energ\u00eda limpia y renovable 100%, no hay raz\u00f3n para que las empresas, las ciudades o los estados tengan que esperar. El momento de actuar es ahora.
