Washington DC - <\/b>Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley anunciaron hoy que copatrocinan un proyecto de ley bipartidista que brindar\u00eda beneficios de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a m\u00e1s veteranos que sirvieron hace d\u00e9cadas en la Zona Desmilitarizada de Corea (DMZ).<\/p>\n

Su proyecto de ley cambiar\u00eda la fecha de inicio de la presunci\u00f3n de conexi\u00f3n de servicio para todos los veteranos expuestos al Agente Naranja en la Zona Desmilitarizada de Corea de abril de 1968 a septiembre de 1967. El Departamento de Asuntos de Veteranos (VA) de EE. UU. supone que los veteranos que sirvieron en la DMZ de Corea solo de 1968 a 1971 estuvieron expuestos al Agente Naranja a pesar de las estimaciones de que cientos de veteranos m\u00e1s estuvieron expuestos al defoliante t\u00f3xico desde 1967.<\/p>\n

\u201cEste proyecto de ley es un asunto urgente para los veteranos que sufren exposici\u00f3n al Agente Naranja como resultado de su servicio a nuestro pa\u00eds\u201d, <\/b>dijo Wyden. \u201cEstos veteranos merecen acceso total a los beneficios y atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica de calidad que se necesitan para tratar los efectos secundarios de este qu\u00edmico t\u00f3xico\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cLos veteranos estuvieron expuestos al Agente Naranja durante su servicio a nuestro pa\u00eds, y les debemos la mejor atenci\u00f3n posible\u201d, <\/b>dijo Merkley. \u201cLa evidencia muestra que los miembros del servicio estuvieron expuestos a esta toxina desde 1967, y es una completa injusticia excluirlos de la atenci\u00f3n necesaria. Sus sacrificios deben ser reconocidos y merecen acceso a los beneficios de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica de la m\u00e1s alta calidad\u201d.<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
