Washington DC<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley dijeron hoy que quieren que el proyecto de ley de reautorizaci\u00f3n de la Guardia Costera estadounidense mantenga abierta permanentemente la estaci\u00f3n a\u00e9rea de Newport en la costa de Oreg\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Los senadores de Oreg\u00f3n dieron a conocer sus puntos de vista en una carta bipartidista tambi\u00e9n firmada por los senadores Tim Scott y Lindsey Graham (ambos RS.C.).<\/p>\n

"Seguimos extremadamente preocupados por las instalaciones a\u00e9reas de la Guardia Costera en los puertos de alto uso de Newport, Oregon y Charleston, Carolina del Sur".<\/b> los cuatro legisladores escribieron al senador John Thune (RS.D.), presidente del Comit\u00e9 Senatorial de Comercio, Ciencia y Transporte; el miembro de mayor rango del comit\u00e9, el senador Bill Nelson (dem\u00f3crata por Florida); el representante Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), presidente del Comit\u00e9 de Transporte e Infraestructura de la C\u00e1mara de Representantes; y el miembro de mayor rango del comit\u00e9 de la C\u00e1mara, el representante Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.).<\/p>\n

"Newport alberga la flota pesquera comercial m\u00e1s grande de Oreg\u00f3n y varios buques de la Administraci\u00f3n Nacional Oce\u00e1nica y Atmosf\u00e9rica".<\/b> ellos escribieron.  \u201cCharleston es uno de los principales puertos de carga de Estados Unidos y tambi\u00e9n cuenta con importantes industrias tur\u00edsticas y pesqueras.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

La carta se\u00f1al\u00f3 que la C\u00e1mara incluy\u00f3 lenguaje en la Ley bipartidista de Reautorizaci\u00f3n de la Guardia Costera de 2017 y en la Ley de Autorizaci\u00f3n del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional recientemente aprobada, para mantener abiertas las instalaciones de Newport y Charleston, Carolina del Sur, en reconocimiento a su funciones que salvan vidas<\/a>.
