El senador Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) anunci\u00f3 el lunes que copatrocinar\u00eda el proyecto de ley \u201cMedicare para todos\u201d presentado por el senador Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).<\/p>\n

"La atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica deber\u00eda ser un derecho para todos los estadounidenses, no un privilegio reservado para los sanos y los ricos", dijo Merkley en un comunicado.<\/p>\n

\u201cEn este momento, nuestro sistema de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica es incre\u00edblemente complejo, fragmentado y estresante. Ser\u00eda fant\u00e1stico tener un sistema simple y fluido donde, \u00fanicamente por el hecho de vivir en Estados Unidos, sepas que recibir\u00e1s la atenci\u00f3n que necesitas\u201d.<\/p>\n

Merkley dijo que el pa\u00eds ha logrado "enormes avances" en la ampliaci\u00f3n del acceso a la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica.<\/p>\n

"Pero muchos estadounidenses todav\u00eda est\u00e1n, con raz\u00f3n, frustrados por el costo y la complejidad de nuestro sistema actual", dijo.<\/p>\n

"Es hora de simplificar la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y reducir los costos de los pacientes, y adoptar Medicare para todos".<\/p>\n
