WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 El senador de Oreg\u00f3n, Jeff Merkley, emiti\u00f3 la siguiente declaraci\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de votar en contra de la legislaci\u00f3n de sanciones a Ir\u00e1n en el Comit\u00e9 de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado:<\/p>\n

\u201cIr\u00e1n es una fuerza destructiva y mal\u00e9vola en el escenario global. La b\u00fasqueda por parte de Ir\u00e1n de tecnolog\u00eda de misiles bal\u00edsticos, sus cr\u00edmenes en Siria, su apoyo al terrorismo y sus intentos de desestabilizar a los gobiernos en toda la regi\u00f3n, sus persistentes y beligerantes amenazas hacia Israel son acciones aborrecibles e inaceptables, y todos estamos de acuerdo en que Estados Unidos debe impulsar atr\u00e1s.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa cuesti\u00f3n es c\u00f3mo hacerlo de manera que avancemos en nuestros objetivos a largo plazo de impedir que Ir\u00e1n desarrolle un arma nuclear y disminuir o detener sus otras acciones desestabilizadoras. Necesitamos mantener todas las herramientas sobre la mesa, en consonancia con nuestras obligaciones en virtud del JCPOA, y debemos ser deliberados y estrat\u00e9gicos sobre c\u00f3mo y cu\u00e1ndo las implementamos. Respeto el juicio de mis colegas del comit\u00e9 y comparto su determinaci\u00f3n de resistir las actividades mal\u00e9volas de Ir\u00e1n en la regi\u00f3n, pero no creo que aprobar un proyecto de ley de sanciones en gran medida simb\u00f3licas la semana despu\u00e9s de que el pueblo iran\u00ed se\u00f1alara su deseo de adoptar un enfoque menos conflictivo para Occidente es la mejor manera de lograr esos objetivos estrat\u00e9gicos\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
