Washington DC<\/i><\/b> \u2013 Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley de Oreg\u00f3n se unieron a sus colegas esta semana para reintroducir la Ley de refinanciamiento de pr\u00e9stamos de emergencia Bank on Students.<\/p>\n

La legislaci\u00f3n presentada en el Senado y la C\u00e1mara permitir\u00eda que aquellos con deuda pendiente de pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles refinancien a las tasas de inter\u00e9s ofrecidas a los nuevos prestatarios federales en el a\u00f1o escolar 2016-2017. En 2015, 70% de estudiantes universitarios de \u00faltimo a\u00f1o se graduaron con deudas. Y este a\u00f1o, m\u00e1s de uno de cada cuatro prestatarios est\u00e1 en mora o en incumplimiento de pago de sus pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles. De acuerdo a an\u00e1lisis reciente<\/a>, aproximadamente una cuarta parte de los prestatarios ha incumplido durante la vida de sus pr\u00e9stamos y el 37 por ciento de los prestatarios no ha realizado al menos un pago. Est\u00e1 claro que la crisis de la deuda de los pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles est\u00e1 empeorando cada vez m\u00e1s, sin signos de desaceleraci\u00f3n. Es una crisis que amenaza nuestra econom\u00eda y el futuro de los j\u00f3venes en todo Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n
