Merkley worked with a bipartisan coalition to help craft the U.S. Senate version of the bill that passed in December 2015, and served as a key negotiator in the House-Senate discussions that produced the bill that passed today.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">&ldquo;For decades, the most powerful nation in the world has been virtually powerless to protect its own citizens from toxic chemicals in everyday products. Now, finally, we will have in place a comprehensive system to protect the health of every American.
