\u201cLa posesi\u00f3n de un arma nuclear por parte de Ir\u00e1n ser\u00eda una grave amenaza para la seguridad mundial y una amenaza directa para Estados Unidos. He apoyado firmemente sanciones m\u00e1s estrictas contra Ir\u00e1n en el pasado y lo har\u00e9 nuevamente si se retira de las negociaciones P5+1. No debemos permitir que Ir\u00e1n adquiera armas nucleares.<\/p>\n

\u201cSin embargo, en este momento, seg\u00fan la informaci\u00f3n clasificada y no clasificada que he recibido, creo que un proyecto de ley de sanciones activado har\u00e1 que las negociaciones tengan menos probabilidades de \u00e9xito y dificultar\u00e1 el mantenimiento y fortalecimiento del r\u00e9gimen de sanciones internacionales si las conversaciones fracasan. Como han dicho algunos de nuestros aliados m\u00e1s cercanos, las sanciones unilaterales ahora podr\u00edan desviar la atenci\u00f3n de la falta de voluntad de Ir\u00e1n para hacer las concesiones necesarias y dividir la coalici\u00f3n de sanciones internacionales que es fundamental para mantener la presi\u00f3n sobre Ir\u00e1n. Un r\u00e9gimen de sanciones fuerte y multilateral trajo a Ir\u00e1n a la mesa, y debemos asegurarnos de mantener una presi\u00f3n global fuerte y unificada sobre Ir\u00e1n para detener su programa de armas nucleares.<\/p>\n

\u201cEs importante que las negociaciones no se prolonguen indefinidamente. Las decisiones dif\u00edciles se toman cuando se acercan los plazos, por lo que debe haber un plazo significativo. Si no se llega a un acuerdo, debemos estar en condiciones de imponer sanciones adicionales con una fuerte coalici\u00f3n global como socios.
