\u201cDesafortunadamente, la matr\u00edcula universitaria se ha disparado, lo que hace que la educaci\u00f3n superior est\u00e9 fuera del alcance de muchas familias de Oreg\u00f3n. Y, debido a la disfunci\u00f3n del Congreso, las tasas de los pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles se duplicaron a principios de este mes, agravando a\u00fan m\u00e1s el problema de la asequibilidad universitaria.<\/p>\n\u201cHoy vot\u00e9 a favor de un proyecto de ley de pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles que tiene una caracter\u00edstica positiva. Ofrece un salvavidas a nuestros estudiantes actuales al reducir significativamente las tasas de inter\u00e9s de la ley actual durante los pr\u00f3ximos 3 o 4 a\u00f1os. Para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o escolar, la tasa bajar\u00e1 de 6,81 TP3T seg\u00fan la ley actual a aproximadamente 3,91 TP3T. <\/p>\n
\u201cSin embargo, no se equivoquen: este proyecto de ley no presenta una pol\u00edtica aceptable a largo plazo. Cobra a los estudiantes universitarios un dos por ciento m\u00e1s de lo que le cuesta al gobierno pedir prestado los fondos. Los estudiantes de posgrado y los padres pagar\u00e1n una prima a\u00fan mayor. Esto convierte los pr\u00e9stamos estudiantiles en una empresa lucrativa para el gobierno, con ganancias estimadas de $184 mil millones en los pr\u00f3ximos diez a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n
