WASHINGTON, DC \u2013 Hoy, el Senado de Estados Unidos aprob\u00f3 una enmienda presentada por el senador de Oreg\u00f3n, Jeff Merkley, que requiere que el Presidente Obama desarrolle un plan para acelerar la reducci\u00f3n de las fuerzas estadounidenses en Afganist\u00e1n y presente informes peri\u00f3dicos al Congreso sobre el progreso de ese plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cNuestras fuerzas estadounidenses han logrado con \u00e9xito los dos objetivos principales fijados cuando fuimos a Afganist\u00e1n: erradicar los campos de entrenamiento de Al Qaeda y perseguir y llevar ante la justicia a los responsables del 11 de septiembre\u201d, dijo el senador Merkley. \u201cEs hora de traer a nuestros hombres y mujeres a casa. El Senado de Estados Unidos envi\u00f3 hoy ese mensaje al Presidente en t\u00e9rminos inequ\u00edvocos\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

La enmienda insta al Presidente a acelerar el calendario para el traspaso del poder y exige que el Presidente entregue al Congreso un plan para acelerar la transici\u00f3n de todas las operaciones militares y de seguridad en Afganist\u00e1n al Gobierno de Afganist\u00e1n dentro de los 90 d\u00edas siguientes a la promulgaci\u00f3n de la ley.
