Washington, DC \u2013 Un nuevo estudio realizado por el Consejo Estadounidense para una Econom\u00eda Energ\u00e9ticamente Eficiente (ACEEE) encuentra que el plan de independencia petrolera del senador Jeff Merkley de Oreg\u00f3n producir\u00eda los mayores ahorros para el a\u00f1o 2030 de nueve propuestas emitidas desde 2006. El senador Merkley public\u00f3 su \u201c America Over a Barrel\u201d del a\u00f1o pasado y reducir\u00eda el uso de petr\u00f3leo en m\u00e1s de 8 millones de barriles por d\u00eda, suficiente para poner fin a la necesidad de importar petr\u00f3leo desde m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de Am\u00e9rica del Norte.<\/p>\n

\u201cCuando los habitantes de Oreg\u00f3n llegan a la gasolinera local y ven los alt\u00edsimos precios de la gasolina, saben que el curso actual es insostenible, no s\u00f3lo para sus bolsillos, sino tambi\u00e9n como pol\u00edtica energ\u00e9tica para la naci\u00f3n\u201d, dijo Merkley. \u201cEste estudio nos dice que no faltan buenas ideas para acabar con nuestra adicci\u00f3n al petr\u00f3leo extranjero.
