Sufri\u00f3 insuficiencia renal aguda, estuvo en coma inducido m\u00e9dicamente durante una semana, se someti\u00f3 a di\u00e1lisis y cuatro cirug\u00edas. Casi muere dos veces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTuvimos suerte de haberlo recuperado\u201d, dijo Sarah Valenzuela.<\/p>\n<p>Jet se enferm\u00f3 de E. coli O157:H7, una bacteria potencialmente mortal que puede aparecer en todo, desde la carne hasta los alimentos procesados. Los funcionarios de salud nunca encontraron la comida que lo enferm\u00f3. Cada a\u00f1o, docenas de brotes en Oreg\u00f3n quedan sin resolver y, aunque los epidemi\u00f3logos resuelven muchos casos, cientos de miles de habitantes de Oreg\u00f3n se enferman y unos 50 mueren.<\/p>\n<p>Merkley, que est\u00e1 haciendo un seguimiento de la seguridad alimentaria en el Senado, quiere que eso cambie.
