El senador de Oreg\u00f3n, Jeff Merkley, emiti\u00f3 la siguiente declaraci\u00f3n sobre la acci\u00f3n de la C\u00e1mara:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEste proyecto de ley es un gran paso adelante en la batalla por una atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica asequible y accesible. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cEl proyecto de ley hace tres cosas fundamentales: pone fin a las pr\u00e1cticas de seguros que victimizan a nuestras familias; crea mercados estatales de p\u00f3lizas de seguros que aumentan las opciones y la competencia; e invierte en nuestra fuerza laboral de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica para contrarrestar la r\u00e1pida jubilaci\u00f3n de los profesionales del baby boom. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAhora que este proyecto de ley se est\u00e1 convirtiendo en ley, tenemos una tarea m\u00e1s. Esta semana, el Senado abordar\u00e1 un proyecto de ley separado de la C\u00e1mara que introduce varias mejoras. Har\u00e1 que la reforma sanitaria sea mejor para las personas mayores al cerrar el per\u00edodo sin cobertura de Medicare. Har\u00e1 que la reforma de salud sea mejor para las familias trabajadoras que tienen altos gastos de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica al reducir sus impuestos. Y mejorar\u00e1 la reforma del sistema de salud al eliminar los acuerdos especiales para ciertos estados.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgradezco a aquellos en la C\u00e1mara \u2013 especialmente a los representantes Blumenauer, DeFazio, Schrader y Wu \u2013 que apoyaron anoche a las familias y peque\u00f1as empresas estadounidenses para aprobar y mejorar la reforma de la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica.
