Washington DC -<\/strong> El Senado de los EE. UU. aprob\u00f3 hoy por abrumadora mayor\u00eda legislaci\u00f3n para ampliar la protecci\u00f3n de las tierras p\u00fablicas en Oreg\u00f3n y otros estados. El Senador de Oreg\u00f3n Jeff Merkley se uni\u00f3 a 76 de sus colegas para apoyar el proyecto de ley. Emiti\u00f3 la siguiente declaraci\u00f3n sobre la aprobaci\u00f3n del proyecto de ley:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOreg\u00f3n tiene un legado de conservaci\u00f3n de los extraordinarios r\u00edos, bosques y monta\u00f1as de nuestro estado, y es importante que sigamos preservando esas \u00e1reas para que los habitantes de Oreg\u00f3n y los visitantes de todo el mundo puedan disfrutarlas. Esta legislaci\u00f3n protege tesoros naturales como \u00e1reas silvestres y recreativas alrededor de Mt. Hood y Columbia Gorge, en el interior del Monumento Nacional Cascade Siskiyou y a lo largo del r\u00edo Elk. El proyecto de ley tambi\u00e9n crea excelentes oportunidades de recreaci\u00f3n cerca del r\u00edo John Day y protege el \u00e1rea de Badlands en las afueras de Bend.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSoy optimista de que la C\u00e1mara adoptar\u00e1 r\u00e1pidamente esta legislaci\u00f3n, para que este proyecto de ley largamente retrasado, y de importancia cr\u00edtica, finalmente pueda convertirse en ley.
