Washington, DC \u2013 El Senador de Oreg\u00f3n Jeff Merkley copatrocin\u00f3 hoy legislaci\u00f3n para facilitar que los trabajadores negocien colectivamente en sus trabajos. La Ley de Libre Elecci\u00f3n de los Empleados agilizar\u00eda el proceso para formar un sindicato y empoderar\u00eda a los trabajadores.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCuando los trabajadores pueden unirse para mejorar sus lugares de trabajo y salarios, fortalecemos a la clase media. Actualmente, la ley federal permite que los empleadores elijan si los trabajadores utilizan un proceso de petici\u00f3n o de elecci\u00f3n para decidir si forman un sindicato. La Ley de Libre Elecci\u00f3n de los Empleados permitir\u00eda que los propios trabajadores decidan si organizarse y c\u00f3mo hacerlo, para que tengan una oportunidad libre y justa de tomar esa decisi\u00f3n. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSi formar un sindicato es lo mejor para los intereses de los trabajadores es una decisi\u00f3n que deben tomar los trabajadores, no la gerencia\u201d, dijo Merkley.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dado que los empleados en los sindicatos actualmente ganan un 30 por ciento m\u00e1s que el promedio y tienen un 60 por ciento m\u00e1s de probabilidades de tener un seguro de salud cubierto por el empleador, los beneficios de formar sindicatos son muy claros.
