En una \u00e9poca de crisis econ\u00f3mica, cada vez m\u00e1s ni\u00f1os corren el peligro de perder la cobertura de salud. Seg\u00fan Kaiser Family Foundation, cada vez que la tasa nacional de desempleo sube un punto, 700,000 ni\u00f1os m\u00e1s se vuelven elegibles para Medicaid o SCHIP. El programa SCHIP reautorizado ayudar\u00e1 a contrarrestar esta tendencia al brindar cobertura de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a 4 millones de ni\u00f1os que anteriormente no ten\u00edan seguro, adem\u00e1s de los 6,7 millones de ni\u00f1os que ya est\u00e1n cubiertos por el programa. Solo en Oreg\u00f3n, la reautorizaci\u00f3n brindar\u00e1 cobertura de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica a 42,000 m\u00e1s, m\u00e1s de un tercio de todos los ni\u00f1os sin seguro en el estado.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de brindar atenci\u00f3n esencial a nuestros ni\u00f1os, SCHIP tambi\u00e9n crea y mantiene empleos en Oreg\u00f3n en las profesiones de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, algo que se necesita con urgencia en este clima econ\u00f3mico desafiante. Un an\u00e1lisis de 2007 realizado por Families USA que examin\u00f3 una legislaci\u00f3n SCHIP similar mostr\u00f3 que el proyecto de ley traer\u00eda cientos de millones en nuevos fondos federales a Oreg\u00f3n durante los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os, lo que resultar\u00eda en $219.4 millones en aumento de actividad comercial, $80.9 millones en aumento de salarios y 2,444 trabajos adicionales para las familias de Oreg\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n
