Da inicio a una serie de audiencias que investigan la producci\u00f3n y la contaminaci\u00f3n del pl\u00e1stico<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Washington, DC \u2013 El jueves 30 de marzo a las 10:00 am, hora del Este, el Senador estadounidense de Oreg\u00f3n, Jeff Merkley, presidir\u00e1 una audiencia del Subcomit\u00e9 para examinar los impactos ambientales de la producci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1sticos. Esta audiencia es la primera de una serie de audiencias que Merkley planea realizar en el Subcomit\u00e9 de Seguridad Qu\u00edmica, Gesti\u00f3n de Desechos, Justicia Ambiental y Supervisi\u00f3n Regulatoria que investigar\u00e1 la producci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1stico y la contaminaci\u00f3n que afecta la salud humana, el clima y el medio ambiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCuando se trata de reducir residuos, nos ense\u00f1aron las tres R: reducir, reutilizar y reciclar; sin embargo, la realidad en el caso de los pl\u00e1sticos son las tres B: enterrados, quemados o llevados al mar\u201d, dijo el senador Merkley. \u201cLos pl\u00e1sticos producen emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero y liberan toxinas durante toda su vida. Desde la producci\u00f3n hasta su naturaleza de un solo uso, la contaminaci\u00f3n pl\u00e1stica y el caos clim\u00e1tico est\u00e1n fundamentalmente vinculados. Como presidente, mi subcomit\u00e9 llevar\u00e1 a cabo una serie de audiencias para comprender plenamente el da\u00f1o que los pl\u00e1sticos est\u00e1n causando a la salud humana y a nuestro futuro y c\u00f3mo podemos crear una econom\u00eda circular verdaderamente sostenible que acabe con la contaminaci\u00f3n pl\u00e1stica\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Merkley lidera la Ley para liberarse de la contaminaci\u00f3n pl\u00e1stica<\/a><\/em> lo que reducir\u00eda la producci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1stico, aumentar\u00eda el reciclaje y proteger\u00eda a las comunidades de primera l\u00ednea de la carga de las emisiones t\u00f3xicas de los desechos pl\u00e1sticos al cambiar los incentivos de la industria.
