Washington DC<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley dijeron hoy que se unieron a sus colegas para presentar una resoluci\u00f3n del Senado que reconoce a junio como el Mes del Orgullo LGBTQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cMientras celebramos el Orgullo este mes, debemos continuar la lucha por la igualdad de derechos y la justicia para las personas LGBTQ en Oreg\u00f3n y en todo el pa\u00eds\u201d. <\/strong>dijo Wyden. \u201cCon los ataques de la extrema derecha en aumento contra los derechos fundamentales a la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y la autonom\u00eda corporal, debemos seguir diciendo en voz alta y con orgullo que los miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ merecen respeto e igualdad de trato. La resoluci\u00f3n de los senadores destaca las contribuciones que los estadounidenses LGBTQ han hecho a nuestro pa\u00eds, se\u00f1ala varios hitos importantes en la lucha por la igualdad de trato de los estadounidenses LGBTQ y resuelve continuar los esfuerzos para lograr la igualdad total. La resoluci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n reconoce el progreso que se ha logrado con la aprobaci\u00f3n de la Ley de Respeto al Matrimonio<\/em><\/strong><\/a> y el reconocimiento legal de las protecciones en el lugar de trabajo para las personas transg\u00e9nero, al tiempo que reconocemos los continuos ataques a los derechos de las personas LGBTQ que tienen lugar en nuestras instituciones legales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A principios de este mes, Merkley lider\u00f3 a los dem\u00f3cratas del Senado en la reintroducci\u00f3n de la Ley de Igualdad<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, legislaci\u00f3n para garantizar que las leyes de derechos civiles proh\u00edban la discriminaci\u00f3n por motivos de orientaci\u00f3n sexual e identidad de g\u00e9nero.
